I came to St Andrew’s South Brisbane in 2015 after being appointed Associate Priest. I am married to Glenda. We have three adult children who are all happily married, and Glenda and I are blessed to have five grandchildren.

My parents became Christians when I was a toddler, and I had the privilege of being nurtured in the Christian faith from an early age. Dad and Mum were very involved at church and it was great to be part of such a wonderful church family.

After leaving school, I worked at Woolworths, Telecom and then as a sales rep travelling around Queensland and northern New South Wales (NSW). This was all good preparation for the rigours of theological college and a calling to the ministry. I was ordained in 1987, was Curate at Dalby for 18 months, then Rector of Bowen (NQ) parish from 1989 to 1994.

One of my great joys is helping people whether it is helping someone work through personal issues and/or chatting about God. Here at St Andrew’s I look after weddings and baptisms and, in this capacity, I enjoy working with a great variety of people. I also focus on connecting with people who are new to the church.

For eight years before coming to St Andrew’s South Brisbane, I was the regional officer for Bush Church Aid (BCA) in Queensland and Northern NSW.  This involved working alongside and speaking at churches and community groups throughout Queensland and Northern NSW.

Prior to that I was the Vicar of Moree (NSW) parish and Archdeacon of the Barwon. I’ll never forget the comment made to me by a former parishioner who had returned to visit. She said, “You must be doing something right here – there are so many prams!”

I have also ministered at Roxby Downs (SA) and in the Upper Clarence (NSW) under the auspices of BCA. During those appointments the prayer support I received from so many of the BCA family was wonderful. It made such a difference.

Since leaving school I have had many and varied work and ministry experiences, all of which I greatly value and appreciate. I believe all of them help me connect with and build meaningful relationships with the people I have the privilege of ministering to here at St Andrew’s South Brisbane.
