Who we are

We are an eclectic mix of individuals, couples and families from all walks of life – with every kind of story imaginable. Our number includes current and retired academics, professionals and tradespersons, unemployed persons, aged persons, people with a disability, the socially marginalized, indigenous Australians, new Australians and temporary residents from overseas. Many of us do not live in the area but travel from other suburbs to be part of St Andrew’s South Brisbane.

A number of us have come from other denominations, so not all our members are “dyed in the wool” Anglicans. What we have in common is a commitment to Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, a belief that the Bible is the Word of God, a desire to love and serve God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and to reach out to those who do not yet know Jesus.

Our church includes folk across the political spectrum, from conservatives (at one end) to social justice activists (at the other end).

Some of us have been part of this church for decades; others are “newbies”. Some of us are Bible scholars; others are studying the Bible for the first time.

We are blessed at St Andrew’s to have a large number of creative individuals. They include writers, poets, songwriters, composers, creative and graphic artists, crafts persons, flower arrangers, cooks and photographers (to name a few).
